Mono Ethylene Glycol

Mono-ethylene glycol is obtained from the reaction of ethylene oxide with water.
It is a liquid that can be mixed with water in any ratio. Mono-ethylene glycol is used as an antifreeze and drying retardant for water-based emulsion paints, antifreeze in aqueous systems and as a solvent for alkyd resins and dyes. In addition, mono ethylene glycol gives lubricity and ease of application to the paint. Mono ethylene glycol is used in the production of alkyd resin, paint, varnish, and ink.
